FORT BENNING, Ga. - A commemorative service in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is scheduled for 11 a.m. Jan. 22 in Marshall Auditorium, McGinnis-Wickam Hall.

Brig. Gen. Barrye L. Price will be the guest speaker. Price is the deputy chief of staff, Human Resources Policy Directorate at the Pentagon. He will address this year's theme "Remember! Celebrate! Act! A Day On, Not a Day Off!"

Price is a Distinguished Military Graduate of the University of Houston's College of Business Administration. Also, he has earned a Master of Arts degree in history from Texas A & M University, in 1997 he earned a doctorate from the Department of History at Texas A & M University and Price holds a Master of Science degree in national security strategy from National Defense University.  

Price is the author of "Against All Enemies Foreign and Domestic: A Study of Urban Unrest and Federal Intervention Within the United States."

In addition to the guest speaker, an interpretation of King's "I Have a Dream" speech and musical selections will be presented. The musical numbers will be performed by Fort Benning's Sightseeing Road Chapel choir.   Admission to this event is free and the public is invited to attend.
